3! JUL 24

GOVERNMENT HOUSE,

16th June, 1924.

Bir,

With reference to your despatch No.108 of

the 23rd April, 1924, I have the honour to inform you that

in the opinion of this Govemment the charge of £6,860 made

by Messrs. Coode, Fitzmaurice, Wilson and Mitchell in respect of professional services rendered in connection with the contemplated harbour improvements is beyond all

reason.

As, however, we did not think it necessary

to take the precaution of ascertaining beforehand the

amount of the tees which would be payable I presume that

we have no option but to meet the demand. The majority of

the members of the Finance Committee have approved payment

and instructions may be given to the Crown Agenta

accordingly.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient humble servant,

B.E. Stabbs

Governer, &c.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

J. H. THOMAS, M.P.,

&C..
